Who We Are

Since 2019, P.I.Celkem has been providing R&D services to organizations across the United States. We are proud to offer Protein Science support for biotechnology initiatives, which helps fund our research efforts to develop a viable treatment for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis(IPF).  IPF is a severe condition that represents a large medical challenge.
We are also dedicated to educating the community and fostering growth in biotechnology-related jobs, talent, and companies in the South Sound region. Located near the University of Washington-Tacoma campus, we also offer internships that give students hands-on industry experience.

Meet the Team

Scott McCarthy

President

A graduate of Eastern Washington University with a degree in Biochemistry - Biotechnology, Scott brings over 20 years of expertise in the biotechnology industry. Beginning at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Scott specialized in nephrology research before moving on to AMGEN IMMUNEX. At AMGEN, he focused on the purification and formulation of biologics and protein reagents, developing large-scale IgG2 purification processes and contributing to the advancement of small molecule enzymology.

Scott has extensive experience in process development, particularly in the separation and purification of non-tagged biologics for early therapeutic studies. His work has been crucial in ensuring high-quality biologic products, with a focus on minimizing contaminants. With a deep understanding of biologics and a commitment to innovation, Scott leads the company with a focus on excellence in product development.

Chris Weinert

Senior Research Associate

Chris is a Seattle University graduate with a passion for biotechnology.  Senior research associate aiding in the production of proteins. Chris has processed over 100 proteins for CelKem over the past two years. His laboratory career began as a Clinical Laboratory Specialist, specializing in the screening of blood products for human leukocyte antigens using qualitative ELISA processing instruments. Chris has also performed nucleic acid testing to check for the presence of West Nile Virus, Zika Virus, HIV, HCV, and HBV within human DNA.  

Pat McCarthy

Vice President of Operations

Patrick brings a wealth of knowledge and operational expertise to the team, with over 25 years of experience at UPS in Supply Chain Solutions as an import specialist. Known for his hands-on approach, Patrick is committed to keeping the office running smoothly and even volunteers his time for small tasks. A native of Tacoma, Patrick enjoys spending his free time gardening and traveling.  

Todd Suchevits

Chief Financial Officer

Todd is a seasoned financial leader specializing in corporate domestic and international tax compliance, financial tax accounting, sales/use tax compliance, and tax examination support. With extensive experience in addressing the complex tax needs of growing companies, Todd offers a practical and approachable perspective that bridges the gap between stringent tax regulations and real-world business needs. Beyond his tax expertise, Todd is a valuable resource for general finance matters, bringing a well-rounded and insightful approach to all financial challenges.
